A month behind already

Is it possible that only 11 days into the new year I could already be a month behind? Today is my darling little granddaughter's second birthday. Happy Birthday Jayda Leigh! Grandma loves you so very much.
So holidays are over and its back to work, keeping in mind my resolve to finish the myriad projects that are stashed in too many places to count. There have been several frustrating days where I did not even get to touch a crochet hook or play with any yarn. Today though, I am working like mad on finishing an afghan design that has been sitting around way too long. So far I am working it up in several types of yarn. The first sample started is in a beautiful multicolored yarn in fall colors. (Red Heart TLC) The joined motifs have lots of texture which does not show up very well in this color scheme. But I really love the colors anyway. So I started a second sample using Vanna White ww yarn in a pretty seaspray mist green. The texture shows up better in the trial pics. Then on a hunch I got out some of the Bernat Baby Jacquards and crocheted 2 motifs joined together. I think I might like this one the best. Still undecided where I will send this design to first. Time to break out the submission guidelines for all the crochet magazines and see which ones might be looking for this kind of design.
On a general note, it has been determined that in my family this is officially the year of the blonde. And no, it has nothing to do with hair color. I am convinced that blonde is a blood type and I am riddled with it. Maybe I could blame it on the blood transfusion they gave me in the hospital a couple of years ago??? Already have had more blonde moments this year than all of last year combined. Keeps one on their toes and laughing. Simply cannot take it too seriously........
Well, back to my crochet.

Happy New Year

Well, here it is a new year and a new decade. So I am taking the plunge into blogger land. Not too sure how often I will be updating this. Perhaps whenever I have something clever to say. lol New Years Resolutions- keeping it simple I want this to be the year of finishing things. Esp when it comes to my crochet projects. If I counted all the wips (works in progress) it would be embarrassing to say the least. 100 or more is my guess...........sigh. It is so easy while working on one design, an idea for another one pops into my head and there I go. Simply must grab some more yarn or thread and give it a whirl to see if the idea is a good one. It must be some form of CADD (crochet attention deficit disorder). Around my house we joke about ADD, since number 1 son is riddled with it still at age 27. We saw a t-shirt in a catalog once that said "I'm not ADD, oh look, a duck" Since then when the blank look appears we blame it on the ducks. lol One must simply keep a sense of humor about these things. It beats pulling out hair by the roots.
For Christmas I made my first amigurumi toys for the grandbabies. What a lot of fun these are. I found quite a few freebie patterns on the Lion Brand and also Caron websites. There are some great books out there too. I've managed to collect 3-4 of them now. A wealth of ideas for easy, quick b/day gifts. One grandson has already put in an order for several ones he wants. If there were a way to crochet a version of the Lego Bionicles I'd be inducted to the Grandma Hall of Fame......
Well time to work on finishing some projects. Have a great start to your new year everyone!
